WHAT IS BIOMASS?
Biomass can be defined as land-and water-grown plants that are renewable in less than 100 years, animal wastes, and all organic material mass that is not fossils of biological origin and that contains by-products of food industry and forestry. It is a mixture ofgas resulting from the fermentation of organic-based waste / residuals in an anaerobic environment, which is colorless – odorless, lighter than air, lit with a bright blue flame and that has, depending on the composition of organic materials in its compound, around 40-70% methane, 30-60% carbon dioxide, 0-3 % hydrogen sulfide and a very small amount of nitrogen and hydrogen.
